Aretha Franklin's Inauguration Hat

Is my new favorite thing in the universe. I'm glad she is representing the bow. I hope I walk out of my house tomorrow and everyone is wearing these.

I love it! Does anyone know who designed it?

I wonder if she has has to use some sort of cable tie-down system to keep her from getting airborn when the wind blows?

She supports Barak BowBama!

Love it!
Nothing like a great voice and a great church lady hat!
I "borrowed" this photo for my blog.

That hat is one of the ugliest hats I've ever seen. If she'd seen herself in it on tv, she'd not have worn it.

On the other hand, the hat could spark a whole new generation of "The Flying Nun" fans. Maybe the hat will be awarded its own new tv series.

you, sir, are ridiculous. that's like saying if she saw how big she was on tv she'd lose weight. it's just her. and she can pretty much do whatever the heck she wants. that is very much an aretha hat.

that hat was bow-tiful! it both harkens back to mid-20th century fashion and echoes the "crowns" that are a staple of black-American churches

Iconic.

fantastic!! ..and if it were in any color other than grey, she might have upstaged Michelle Obama in those fabulous chartreuse gloves!

I am just wondering what she had stashed underneath that hat.

Shame on you nay sayers! I think her hat was spectacular and in keeping with the majesty of the event. So Nyah!

It's Aretha's subtle way of letting everyone know that she is just a gift to the world.

Absolutely fabulous hat - very fitting for such a grand occasion and her role in it. As cold as it is today in D.C., more people should've been wearing warm hats. Kudos to Aretha.

Wow. That is quite possibly the epitome of horrendous fashion. Confederate gray mixed with a bow that would put Minnie Mouse to shame. It's like in those car commercials when they put a big ribbon on a new car. Except this ribbon is put on a person. And this person is as big as a house.

The hat even has it's own fan page on facebook now:

LOVED the hat. Way to rock some serious inauguration style!

Mr Song Millinery designed that hat. I think they sell all over the country. Maybe in England too...not sure.

She has been on the "worst" dressed list in the past, but with that hat, she made the "best" dressed list. Go, Aretha!

All ya haters, you try singing in 27 degree weather.

Go Aretha !!!
Loved the hat, you looked amazing.
Tears streamed down my face when I heard you sing.

Every gay man in America stands behind Aretha and that hat! She is who she is, we are who we are and GOD BLESS AMERICA for that fabulous style statement! Anyone who doesn't like that hat, probably thinks plaid flannel and GHW Bush's Trapper hat was cutting edge!
